UM IP gateways create a connection between Unified Messaging and your telephone system. They are required for Telex and E.164 dial plans. You don't need a UM IP gateway on UM systems with SIP URI dial plans.
When you create a UM IP gateway, you're telling UM where to accept incoming calls and where to send outgoing calls, and you're telling your telephone system where to send unanswered calls, so the two can communicate with each other.
For more information about how to create a UM IP gateway and forward calls from your telephone system to your UM IP gateway, see Connect UM to Your Telephone System with UM IP Gateways.
Select Manage My Organization > Phone & Voice > UM IP Gateways.
On the New UM IP Gateway page, under Name, enter a name that is unique in your organization, up to 64 characters long.
Under Address, enter the FQDN of the physical session border controller (SBC), IP gateway, or IP PBX device used to forward and receive calls to and from UM. For more information about how to set up your physical device for UM, see Forward Calls from Your Physical Telephone Device to UM.
To automatically create a default UM hunt group that links this UM IP gateway to a dial plan, under UM dial plan, select the dial plan associated with this gateway.
Note To process incoming and outgoing calls from and to this gateway, you must have at least one UM hunt group that links this UM IP gateway with a dial plan.
Click Save to create the new UM IP gateway.
