For information about how to connect Outlook to a cloud-based mailbox, see the following topics:
Now let’s look at how an administrator can export Exchange Online mailbox data from Microsoft Office 365 or from Microsoft Live@edu.
In most cases, users can open their mailboxes using Outlook, and they can copy their mailbox data to a .pst file. However, users who are assigned Exchange Online Kiosk subscriptions, as indicated by the ExchangeOnlineDeskless mailbox plan, can't access their mailboxes using Outlook. As an administrator, you can, after you assign yourself full mailbox access, and then open the user's mailbox with Outlook to copy the mailbox data. For more information, see Give an Administrator the Ability to Open and View the Contents of a User's Mailbox.
If you've configured a hybrid deployment between Exchange Online and your on-premises Exchange organization, you can move Exchange Online mailboxes to the on-premises Exchange organization without copying mailbox data to a .pst file. For more information about hybrid deployments, see Exchange Hybrid Deployment and Migration with Office 365.
