You can remove people from your chat Contact List.

How do I remove someone from my Contact List?

  • Right-click the person's name and then click Remove > Remove from IM Contact List.

What else do I need to know?

  • If you don't want someone in your Contact List to be able to contact you but don't want to remove them, you can block them. When you block a contact, you'll be able to see their status, but they won't see yours and you can't chat with each other.

    • To block a contact, right-click their name in the Contact List, and then click Block.

  • If the contact is in a group other than Other Contacts, you'll also see an option to remove them from the group. When you remove a contact from a group, they're moved to the Other Contacts group. If you remove them from the Contact List, they're removed completely.

  • You can also remove a contact by signing in to your account using Windows Live Messenger.
